Citizen

Alex

25-year-old with Down syndrome. Staying at an LSS accommodation. He does most of it himself but needs security and support. He has difficulty interpreting bills and summonses.

He has a trustee who lives elsewhere. Salus mea has helped Alex find safety with his mobile connected to the smartwatch. He can alert if he feels unsafe or if he is injured while out cycling.

He knows that the staff sees where he is because he has given his consent. He can call his trustee and have a securely connected video call to watch and be able to interpret the bills. He is very pleased with his alarm. Alex added: “It’s also cool and nice.”

Bettan

Bettan is 64 years old. A lively, vigorous woman living in a dementia home.  10 years ago, she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and was newly divorced at the time. She likes to go for long walks and especially enjoys forest and park environments.

Bettan and her ex-husband have acquired Salus meas application for mobile and smartwatch to enable Bettan’s hikes. These hikes usually last about 3 hours per day through safety zones.

This makes Bettan less anxious and agitated. In addition, she does not have sedatives and sleeping pills. The watch is a well-known gadget for her so she likes to wear it.

Citizen

Zoe

Zoe is a middle-aged woman who lives in her parent’s home about 30 kilometers from the city. She is active and alert but wants her private life to herself. She has had a schizophrenia diagnosis since her youth.

It goes in rounds and Zoe needs help with supervision, taking her medications, and an alarm when she feels anxious. All of this is easily accessible for her in Salus mea, which she uses on her Android phone. Since she has great integrity, e-supervision via video calls is pleasant, as she also takes her important medications.

She knows that she can alert via the same app when she gets anxious and directly get to talk to staff via video calls.

Citizen

Karin & Dexter

Karin and Dexter are a married couple living in ordinary living, in a villa in a small community a few miles outside the city. Karin has a mild cognitive impairment and Dexter has heart failure with venous leg ulcers. They are granted municipal home care and SOL involvements. Karin likes to go shopping for food at the convenience store.

She sometimes needs help/ escorting as well as a security alarm with security zones. Dexter has a rescheduling of his wound by the nursing staff three times a week. One day a week, the nurse needs to check on the wound. He also has access to home health care doctors.

Their support is the application Salus mea where the security alarm is located, Karin easily gets escorted to and from the store, as well as in the store. Dexter’s municipal nurse can see the wound via video call and if necessary, there are consultants to home care doctors via video call. The rehab staff also has training three times a week with Dexter via video to improve his blood circulation in his legs. Salus mea helps Karin and Dexter to be able to stay in their home.

Personnel

Anna

Anna is a nurse and works in the home care service in her municipality. She is also the administrator of the Salus mea service. On her computer, she has access to the Salus meas dashboard and from there she can administer the alarms. She puts in alarm receivers i.e. home care personnel that are connected to the mobiles that the home care area has in operation and uses. She adds alarm users (individuals), their mobile, and any alarm clock and connects these to the alarm receiver.

The alarm chain can be individual for each citizen. Some of the city’s staff take care of it completely. Where approval of citizens is available, relatives also participate in the alarm chain, for example on weekends.

When a citizen alerts, Anna and her work colleagues see exactly on a computer or their mobile where the citizen is. A video call is automatically connected so that the staff can see how the citizen is feeling and appears.

It’s also here she adds who has e-supervision, prompted by reminders to the citizen, via mobile or iPad through a calendar feature.

Some of the citizens have a so-called geofence. This has been designed together with the citizen based on their needs and support. For example, the way to and from the store.

When we ask Anna how she sees the service, she describes it as easy to manage and transparent. Good with alarm history to be able to improve for the individual. She also thinks that Salus mea has contributed to a better working environment for the staff, they have more time now for the right things. She also adds that the service is very environmentally friendly.
